Things You May Not Know As A Buyer in Snowmass Village

Snowmass Village is a charming town just outside Aspen, with a world-class ski area, and it is hugely popular with skiers and snowboarders in the winter. While its mainstay is its gorgeous ski slopes, Snowmass is no stranger to summer activities, such as hiking, biking, ziplining, and more, to keep your time occupied in the gorgeous summer season as well. Because of the gorgeous scenery and recreational spots, Snowmass Village appeals to vacationers, experienced second home buyers and luxury buyers looking for a piece of paradise.

Although many buyers are initially focused on Aspen properties, if they are open to Snowmass Village, they get more for their money. Snowmass Village is not to be dismissed if you are willing to go a short drive from downtown Aspen — it offers year-round adventures, gorgeous homes, and stunning vistas. If you’re looking at Snowmass houses for sale but wondering where to start, don’t fret! We are experts in this market and are happy to help educate you.

If you’re ready for that idyllic vacation home or a brand new secondary residence, this is everything you need to know.

Homes offer much more bang for your buck

Compared to Aspen, buyers of Snowmass Village homes will get much more for their money — sometimes 30 to 50% more. This is mainly due to the spacious real estate here. Single-family Snowmass homes offer more square footage and land size for the price. Residences often provide more stunning views and generally come with more high-end finishes and amenities throughout the space for the same price. This also holds true for condos and townhomes in the area. Keep this in mind when considering Snowmass houses for sale, especially if you’d like more room for your family!

No shortage of adventure year-round

While Snowmass Village is renowned for its skiing and snowboarding opportunities in the winter, there is plenty to do during the summer on Snowmass Mountain as well.

The Snowmass Bike Park is a top destination for catching a ride on the hills on your mountain bike. From late June to early October, riders of all ages can enjoy the high-gravity trails as they fly downhill and marvel at the evergreen forest scenery around them. Plus, many of the trails are lift-accessed, making it easy to get where you want to go in no time. There are 16 explorable downhill trails covering 2,500 miles in total, and the paths are categorized by difficulty, making this a fantastic adventure for all ages and skill levels.

Open from June to October, the Lost Forest at Elk Camp is a zipline and ropes course for a fun day with the whole family. The 40-foot-tall Treeline Trial Challenge Course is the perfect adventure for thrill seekers with a bit of bravery as they take on the aerial rope bridges, ladders, and rappels. Another adventure spot is the Canopy Run Zipline Tours, where you can soar through the alpine scenery at high speeds along seven exciting zipline courses. Also at Lost Forest, you’ll find biking and hiking trails, 18-hole disc golf, and fishing spots with gorgeous views all around you. There’s also a Rugged Ascent climbing wall to explore, a 14-lane wall with belays included. Finally, don’t miss the Breathtaker Alpine Coaster for an adrenaline rush. The ride, which lasts several minutes in total, takes visitors along an exciting journey through the alpine trees and drops 400 feet!

Other nearby neighborhoods

If you’re willing to give up the convenience of ski access right outside your front door, other incredible neighborhoods on the “sunny side” of Snowmass offer all-day sun and ski area views. These lovely neighborhoods include Horse Ranch, Melton Ranch, and Wildridge. With incredible vistas, gorgeous homes along the hillside, and seclusion, these communities have it all — plus, many Snowmass homes are just a short shuttle ride away from the Snowmass ski slopes.

Endless amenities

The Snowmass area offers an array of amenities in both winter and summer, a great compliment to a day of skiing or hiking. The Snowmass Club features an 18-hole Jim Engh golf course among gorgeous vistas of the surrounding mountains and meadows. There’s also an all-ages tennis program, pickleball courts, four heated outdoor swimming pools, hot tubs, a newly renovated 19,500 square foot spa and fitness center, a full-service spa and wellness facility, the Daly Beach Club, and the Black Saddle Bar & Grille.

A short drive to Aspen, but plenty do in Snowmass

If you’ve been considering a move to the area, you might have heard all the buzz about the city of Aspen. While Aspen is a truly fantastic place to live, with its world-famous ski slopes, great restaurants, luxury stores, nightlife, and amenities galore, Snowmass Village also offers an incredible array of activities and outdoor adventure spots.

Thanks to all that Snowmass Village has to offer, the adventurous at heart do not need to make the trek into Aspen every day. Snowmass is the biggest mountain in the Aspen and Snowmass area, and it offers a wide variety of terrain types for skiers of all skill levels. Living in Snowmass Village, you’ll get a slightly more low-key atmosphere compared to Aspen. Plus, you’ll be only 20 minutes away from downtown Basalt, so you can access all the unique dining spots and retail shops anytime you wish. Basalt is also home to the Roaring Fork Club. This prestigious golf and fishing club features a gorgeous 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature course along the Roaring Fork River and Spring Creek. In all, Snowmass Village is the perfect place to call home if you want to live an outdoors-focused life with your family.
